WordPress theme designer can provide multiple design layout options [ with and without sidebar ] for website customization. Generally, bloggers use the sidebar widgets for showing the latest & trending posts, category, Tags and AdSense ads.

Generally, sidebars are used in the right side area of the main content. But it’s up to designer he can provide the opportunity for adding a widget in left or right or on both sides.
Many popular themes use a header right sidebar for showing third-party ads. It’s really a wonderful place for obtaining high CTR and CPC rates.
Let’s see what are the general uses of different 4 types of sidebars in WordPress or other CMS websites.
1. Use of The Right Sidebar
Dear bloggers right sidebar is the most used widget space in all themes. Even we can see this in simple tool based webpages. The main use of this sidebar is to show AdSense Ads, Related Posts, Categories, Search Button and Social Buttons.
2. Use of Left Sidebar
Similar to the right, the Left sidebar also plays an important role in website design. Generally, this widget space is used to show AdSense Ads and Categories. Sometimes we can see the tags and categories together.
3. Top Sidebar
Top Sidebar is rarely used to show Ads. I have not seen any other use of this space. Also, this sidebar is very responsive to Media.net ads. I personally don’t use this. And don’t recommend you use this on your website as it is not userfriendly in all cases. Likewise, sometimes the user gets irritated with ads at the beginning of posts.
4. Bottom Sidebar
The bottom sidebar is commonly used to show related posts and Matched Content ads. Many popular ad networks like Taboola provide good optimization for this widget space or bottom sidebar. Sometimes it can be used to design the footer as our theme has fewer options.

Frequently Asked Questions by Bloggers
In this session, we will clear almost all doubts arising in our visitor’s mind. If anything left then please leave a gentle comment we will add this in our article.
1. Can We Increase Website Traffic With The use of Sidebars?
With the help of widget, we can add related posts in the right side area. This will draw the user’s attention and he will click on the related posts. So in this way, we can increase the session of our website. We will get more page views compared to the non-related post widget experience.
2. Does Sidebar Impact SEO?
This is a very good question and everyone should know this. Either sidebar can improve your ranking or may decrease the ranking.
Suppose someone land on your page and found some interesting articles here then he will spend more time. In this way, the average time spent on site will increase and the bounce rate will decrease. This will give a positive sign to the search engine and the ranking of your site will increase.
On the other hand, if you will add more widgets to your article page this will increase the loading time. More widgets can impact the user experience on your site. Sometimes new blogger uses these widget spaces in the wrong way. This will seriously impact your SEO ranking.
3. How Much Related Post Should Be Shown In Widget Area?
Sometimes new bloggers add 10 to 20 posts in their related sidebar area. They think this will increase user engagement. But sometimes it increases the server load. And we see negative results. So, it is recommended that only 5-8 related posts are enough. In some cases and special circumstances, this number can go up to 10 to 12.
4. Should We Use Related Post Along With Latest Post?
No, it is not good to use related posts along with latest posts. The correct format is to use the related posts on the article page and the latest posts on the homepage.
